The premise:
"Inspired partially by the educational philosophies of Reggio Emilia from Italy and the creative re-use/ recycling  of the byproduct of the industrial age revealing that which is precious and valuable in the everyday material we call waste.

The community was invited to collect items destined for the landfills and allow them new life in form of art objects and tools for educational problem-solving and to create dialog surrounding the issues of education and sustainability inviting everyone to rethink our approach to consumer waste products.
The community responded with collecting and delivering material which was then sorted by color and texture and placed in containers encouraging the process of creativity.
WCCAC board members (many of them educators in early childhood education and special needs teachers) as well as Volunteers assisted and collaborated with the community children of all ages in using their imagination to devise ways to use the material in art projects.
The result is colorful and imaginative array of art pieces composed of material in the most unusual juxtaposition which hopefully inspires us to think before we toss that empty plastic tape dispenser in the waste basket."
